I boil and filter my drinking water after pumping it, so my water is fairly clean. I don't know how safe the water is directly from the pump. According to one nonprofit organization here, this particular kind of pump should have a fence around it, but it does not. I don't know if the water has been tested. Families here drink the water directly from the pump.
