DOKO Antoine rows a pirogue in a dammed lake built by Ndomongo Jean and Peace Corps Volunteers. He is pulling weeds from the center of the lake to encourage plankton growth, essential to tilapia farming. These hand-made canoes are carved from the trunks of tropical hardwoods and are a principal form of water transport.
